‘twas a gorgeous day- dog and I went out exploring.
I stumbled upon a fantastic example of what not to do...
Wheeling solo, no recovery points, no tools, bone stock XJ and a giant water hole. I yanked him out, pulled the plugs, cranked the water out of the engine and sent him on his way.
Serious doggo.

I wished for some beautiful weather here. Rained all day but at least it was a nice brisk 50 degree day. Would have made some good hiking weather without the rain. Haha that guy was very lucky you came along!

Indeed he was... we were in an area with cell reception, at least. It was right at the end of the day and I didn’t see another Jeep up there. Where he was stuck was inaccessible for pickups, and a quad wasn’t going to be getting him unstuck! Plus there’s the whole knowing my way around a hydrolocked engine thing.

How do you mean “inaccessible by pickups”? Too tight a trail? My experience is most full-size trucks with decent tires will make it most places a stock XJ will, unless the ground is too soft to handle the weight.

The pickups I’m referring to are the quad riders’ tow rigs. You know- the 2015 Duracumstrokemax Denalaramie Ranch Megacrew Platinum Texas Steakhouse edition pickups, not ‘79 short bed 4x4 F-150s.
The entrance, or “filter”, at the trailhead is a technical section with deep ruts and big boulders.

Right. I forgot. The kind of people who need to drive somewhere to ride their quads...

You mean Americans buy cars that aren’t 2015 Duracumstrokemax Denalaramie Ranch Megacrew Platinum Texas Steakhouse edition pickups?

Yes, but those are the poor ones. We don’t care about them.
